One person is dead after the car they were driving crashed into a wall in Matamata in the early hours of this morning.
The deceased was the only one in the car that crashed on Smith Street about 4.40am, said police.
Meanwhile, one person is in a critical condition after a crash between a car and a bus on State Highway 1 near Manakau, in Horowhenua, this morning. The injured person was taken to Wellington Hospital by helicopter and police said nobody on the bus was injured.
A person is also in a critical condition after a crash on the Southern Motorway in Auckland.
The single vehicle accident occurred between East Tamaki Road and Te Irirangi Drive, and the accident has blocked southbound lanes in the area.
