A case for those arrested in police raids in the Ureweras in 2007 began in the Court of Appeal in Wellington on Tuesday.
The hearing relates to pre-trial matters, but all details of the case have been suppressed.
A number of people face charges as a result of the raids and are due to go to trial in May next year in the High Court in Auckland.
The hearing will continue on Wednesday.
