Police believe more women may have been sexually active with an HIV-positive man jailed for infecting his partner with the disease.

Artwell Chakanyuka jailed for eight years and four months when he appeared for sentencing in the Auckland High Court on 3 February.

Detective Simon Jeffries says since the conviction, police have determined that the 35-year-old has been sexually active with other women in the Auckland area over the last few years.

Mr Jeffries says anyone who has not been in touch with police or health services regarding contact with Chakanyuka and who has concerns for their health should contact a doctor or health provider as soon as possible.
