The State Services Commission is inviting applications once again for the job of Director-General of Health to replace Kevin Woods, who returned to Scotland last year.
The former director-general, Kevin Woods, returned to Scotland in November 2013 after three years in the job for family reasons.
In August, an international search for a successor was put on hold until after this year's general election.
The commission said this provided a chance to talk to new Health Minister Jonathan Coleman about priorities and ensure that the position description matched.
An updated position description and fresh application process were released today.
