11:11 am on 5 May 2014

The trial of a Hawke's Bay police officer accused of indecently assaulting five young women while working as a volunteer lifeguard director is underway in Napier District Court.

Adam Dunnett has been stood down from the police while the matter is dealt with by the court.

He faces several charges of indecent assault while at the Ocean Beach Kiwi Surf Lifesaving Club, between May 2011 and December 2012.

The Crown says the assaults took place during lifesaving club social functions.

The trial is set down for three days.
