Specialist police teams are investigating two fatal car crashes in the upper North Island on Sunday morning.
One person died at the scene of a two-car crash in Waimahana in Bay of Plenty, while a second is in a serious condition after being trapped in the vehicle.
In the Far North, a man died when his car rolled on a rural road near Doubtless Bay.
And at 11am eight people in Pukekohe were treated by St John Ambulance after two cars, each carrying a family, collided.
An 11-year-old boy is in a serious condition.
