Police have arrested a man in relation to the sexual assault of a young girl in West Auckland.
The six-year-old was playing with friends around the entrance to Glendene Reserve about 8.20pm on Wednesday, when a man grabbed and carried her into the reserve before assaulting her.
The child was rescued by her mother, who heard her screams, and the man ran off.
Police say they have charged a 20-year-old man with kidnapping and assault with intent to commit sexual violation.
He is due to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Monday.
