The schools' watchdog says schools are making good progress on preparing to implement a new curriculum next year. The Education Review Office says only a handful of schools are lagging in their preparations.
Launched two years ago, the new curriculum has been hailed by teacher groups as a framework with the potential to change the face of education.
The ERO's chief reviewer, Graham Stoop, says 98% of schools are doing well in their preparations for the new school year. The few not yet up to the mark have been affected, he says, by factors such as inadequate leadership and a lack of consultation.
More than 70% of primary schools have met a new requirement to provide second-language classes.
