Police in Christchurch hope to partially reopen Queen Elizabeth II Drive to traffic by 10am on Thursday, following a three-vehicle crash.
A road closure has been in place on QEII between Marshland Road and Burwood Road since7.50am.
Police said it appeared a car travelling west on QEII Drive became trapped between two trucks.
The driver of the car, a woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of one of the trucks was also taken taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
