Cyclists in Wellington - the most dangerous city in New Zealand for people on bikes - are demanding action on safety.
More than 200 people met Wellington Town Hall on Wednesday night to discuss how to improve cycle safety.
The number of people cycling to work in the capital has doubled since 2006.
There were 31 serious bike crashes in 2011.
Wellington City Council is considering a central city speed limit of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, which might reduce the injury rate, but says finding the money for other safety initiatives is an issue.
