Cancer patients may get faster treatment under a new Government plan.
The Government has issued best practice guidelines for treating a range of the most common cancers, including bowel, breast and melanoma.
The draft tumor standards follow the same principle as standards introduced in 2011 to deal with lung cancer.
Health Minister Tony Ryall said patients with lung cancer are being diagnosed faster and receiving treatment sooner as a result of those guidelines.
He said the new standards will make it clearer and easier for health professionals to know what to do when faced with specific types of cancer, which will speed up treatment.
