Researchers estimate more than 600,000 New Zealanders will own tablet devices this year as more people buy different equipment to access the internet.
A report by Nielsen report into trends in 2012 shows more people who are digitally connected are using wireless and mobile technology.
Nearly all New Zealanders who are online are using a broadband connection at home, and more than three-quarters use the internet through a wireless connection.
Nielsen says people are now using a multitude of devices to make accessing the internet more convenient.
It says nearly 400,000 people own a tablet and it expects that figure could grow to 600,000 this year.
