Andrew Hore cited over strike on Wales lock

All Blacks' hooker Andrew Hore has been cited by the International Rugby Board (IRB) for allegedly hitting Wales lock Bradley Davies during the All Blacks' 33-10 win in Cardiff on Saturday.

Hore appeared to catch Davies with a punch from behind in the game's early stages and the Cardiff Blues forward later went to hospital for precautionary examinations.

A statement from the Six Nations Committee says Hore was cited by the IRB's independent Citing Commissioner for allegedly striking an opponent.

It said the time and date of the hearing before the IRB's appointed independent judicial officer have yet to be fixed.

The IRB's general penalty range for such an offence is two to eight weeks.

The British media has been quick to label the All Blacks thugs after the incident but coach Steve Hansen says his players do not deliberately go out to injure opposition players.
