A man found dead in the Auckland suburb of Mount Wellington on Sunday night has been named as Tamati Tupe, of Mangere.
Police believe at least three other people were involved in an incident with the 23-year-old victim in the vicinity of Panama and Hillside Road.
They are speaking to nearby residents about what they saw on Sunday night or early Monday morning.
A 17-year-old appeared in n the Manukau District Court on Tuesday charged with assault.
Police say a post mortem examination has been completed but are not commenting on Mr Tupe's injuries.
