One person died and another is in hospital with critical injuries after a crash near Hokitika on Friday morning.
Police say one person died at the scene when the crash occurred near the settlement of Kaniere at about 1am.
St John Ambulance says another person was flown to Greymouth hospital. He is in a critical but stable condition.
Both the driver and the passenger were aged 17.
