Sharemarket closes down on Monday

The New Zealand sharemarket closed down on Monday, with the benchmark NZX50 down 8 points to 3340.

Among the major share movements, Fletcher Building was down 1 cent to $6.72, Telecom was down half-a-cent to $2.14, Chorus was down 2 cents at $3.31, and Contact shed 8 cents to close at $4.86.

Sky City Entertainment gained 2 cents to $3.53, Sky Television was unchanged at $5.07.

Tower was down 2 cents to $1.48 and Port of Tauranga was down 27 cents to $10.40.

Hallenstein Glasson gained 2 cents to $3.70, The Warehouse was down 2 cents to $2.66, and Pumpkin Patch was down 2 cents to 81 cents.

In the currency markets, at 6.20pm the Kiwi was trading at 83.33 US cents, 77.60 Australian, 52.77 pence, 64.66 yen and 0.6288 euro.

The TWI was at 73.08.
