The Warehouse reports online sales growth

The Warehouse's online shopping has given the retailer a glimmer of hope, in what it says continues to be a tough trading environment on the shop floor.

The country's biggest retailer launched an online offering last year, and its chief executive, Ian Morrice, says sales have been growing steadily as it's tripled the number of products on offer to more than 10,000.

Mr Morrice says The Warehouse is striking more deals with suppliers of larger items, that will only be available to customers online.

The Warehouse says it expects trading conditions to remain difficult in the short term, as consumer demand remains sluggish and rising costs affect operating costs.
