Markets down

The sharemarket edged downwards on Friday. By 1pm, the NZX50 index was down 3 points to 3233 on turnover of $42 million.

Fletcher Building was unchanged at $8.05, Telecom was up 1 cent to $2.05, and Contact Energy was down 5c at $5.75.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 1c to $3.12.

Sky City Entertainment Group was up 1c to $2.93 and Sky Network Television was down 2c at $5.02.

Michael Hill International was up 1c to $0.72 after reporting on Thursday that first quarter sales rose 13%.

The Warehouse was unchanged at $3.88 and Hallenstein Glasson was up 1c to $4.40. Ebos Group was down 7c to $7.01 and Rakon was down 2c to $1.22.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index down 16 points to 46 76

The New Zealand dollar was trading at 74.97 US cents, 76.40 Australian cents, 47.19 pence, 61.72 yen and 0.5383 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 66.71.
