Accountants set to vote on trans-Tasman team-up

As flagged earlier this year, New Zealand and Australian chartered accountants will vote in October on whether or not to form a single organisation spanning both countries.

The vote by members of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and its Australian counterpart will be held between 1 October and 1 November.

The chair of the New Zealand institute, Graham Crombie, says a single body should be able to deliver more to his 33,000 members.

Earlier this year, he says, both organisations agreed to consult their members about the idea, and in New Zealand, he says, after a comprehensive process, "The feedback was overwhelmingly that we should take this to a vote."
