A survey of employers has found a net 22% looking at hiring new employees in the September quarter.
The survey, of more than 650 New Zealand employers by the Manpower Group found 28% plan to hire extra staff in the three months ending September, while only 7% are considering laying off staff.
Manpower New Zealand national manager Matt Love-Smith said growth in the commercial and residential construction sector, particularly in Auckland and Christchurch, is driving demand.
