Online job vacancies rose sharply in May after falling in the previous two months.
The Department of Labour's latest Jobs Online report shows advertised vacancies were 9.9% higher in May compared with the previous month.
Skilled job vacancies rose a seasonally adjusted 9.5%, with sales, retail, marketing and advertising vacancies recording the strongest growth, followed by accounting, human resources, legal and administration roles.
On an annual basis, online job vacancies rose 12.8% in the year to the end of May, while skilled job vacancies rose 10.1%.
The continued strong growth in Canterbury over the year was driven by the demand for skilled workers in construction and engineering, a rise of 61%, and in accounting, human resources, legal and administration.
