1:15 Vege prices up 30 percent
You've probably noticed that vegetables are pretty pricey at the moment.. particularly things like lettuce which are about 5 dollars a head!
Statistics New Zealand says they've gone up more than 30 percent in the past year.
The president of the produce industry body, United Fresh, Jerry Prendergast says the recent cyclones are to blame.
1:25 Dairy Industry's attempt to deal with climate change
The most anticipated rural outing of the year has just kicked off in Hamilton.
The 2017 National Fielddays has been officially opened by Deputy Prime and Minister of Climate Change Issues, Paula Bennett.
She used her opening address to unveil the Dairy Action for Climate Change plan which will establish over the next two years the actions the sector will undertake to start addressing on-farm greenhouse gas emissions. Among those at the Fielddays with an interest in the plan is Federtated Farmers Climate change spokesman, Anders Crofoot.
1:30 Drop in pet ownership
The lastest figures on New Zealand rates of pet ownership have shown a drop which is being attributed to a fall in home ownership here. A new Euromonitor International report shows the number of Kiwi dogs had fallen from 696,000 in 2012 to just over 680,000 this year. Cat numbers have shrunk by about 200,000 animals in that same time period and are also expected to keep falling. The report has found that people who don't own their own homes are concerned that having a pet will limit their rental prospects. That is something which the SPCA in Auckland has seen first hand and CEO Andrea Midgen speaks to Jesse about the issue.
1:35 Hundertwasser funding target nearly met
The Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Maori Art Gallery has been given the green light after a significant grant from the New Zealand Lotteries Commission.
The grant of 3.5 million dollars has pushed the fundraising for the project to 18.6 million dollars - which is just shy of the estimated 20.97 million estimated it needs for the build.
Whangarei Art Museum Trust's chairperson, Grant Faber, has been involved in making the building a reality - he's with Jesse to talk about what the latest grants means for the project.
1:40 Great Movie Soundtrack: Jackie Brown
Today's great album, is from the soundtrack to the American crime thriller "Jackie Brown", the 3rd feature film directed by Quentin Tarantino. A trademark of those early Tarantino movies is the soundtrack, mostly curated by him.
Jackie Brown is credited with revitalising the career of veteran actor Robert Forster as he was nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes Awards.
2:10 Music Critic: Simon Sweetman
Simon is a freelance music writer and has a couple of vintage sounding tracks from two new albums to play us. Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie team up after 16 years to produce a duets album, with a little help from the Fleetwood Mac rhythm section. And, former Pink Floyd bassist, Roger Waters has released his 5th studio album after a 25 year hiatus.
2:25 Bookmarks: John Barnett
The man behind four of New Zealand's seven top grossing films is our guest on Bookmarks this afternoon. In a career spanning five decades he's produced, or been executive producer on, a dozen or more feature films, as well as making many well known dramas for Television.
3:10 How Clinton lost the election
Cast your mind back to early 2016, when polls gave Hillary Clinton an 80% chance of beating Donald Trump in the race for the White House.
How did it all go so wrong for someone who on paper seemed like the ideal candidate?
Political reporter Jonathan Allen and his co -author followed the campaign from start to finish and reveal the dysfunction behinds the scenes and the failures of candidate Clinton herself in their new book, Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign.
