Lorde makes massive donation from merch sales in the US
The 29-year-old New Zealand artist has made it clear where she stands on the recent US immigration enforcement in Minneapolis.
Kiwi singer Lorde has added her voice and funds to the growing outcry over recent US immigration enforcement in Minneapolis.
The 29-year-old artist's Ultrasound tour stopped in the city last October. The sales of merchandise at the shows generated $204,000, all of which she has pledged to local immigrant advocacy groups, the Minnesota Immigration Rights Action Committee and the Immigrant Defense Network.
The announcement, shared in an Instagram Story, included a photo of the back of her hand with "ICE out" written on it.

Her gesture comes amid widespread protests following a controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Minneapolis that has seen intense community backlash after two civilians were killed in separate incidents involving federal agents earlier this year.
Lorde isn't alone. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, artists including Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish and Kehlani used their acceptance speeches to denounce ICE and several others wore "ICE out" pins on the red carpet.

"Before I say thanks to God, I'm gonna say: ICE out," Bad Bunny, who will be performing at the Super Bowl's halftime show, said on the Grammy stage. "We're not savage, we're not animals, we're not aliens," he said. "We are humans and we are Americans."
Bruce Springsteen recently made a surprise appearance at a concert in Minneapolis that benefited the families of the two civilians who were killed by federal officers last month. He released a song which he dedicated to the people of Minneapolis.
Artists have also been speaking out against the use of their music in Department of Homeland Security’s promotional videos online, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Lorde's Ultrasound tour — supporting her fourth album Virgin — will arrive to New Zealand next week, with shows set for Auckland on 11 February and Christchurch on 13 February.
