A new inter-island ferry for the Tongan island of 'Eua has been delivered from Auckland.
The chairman of the 'Eua Sea Transport Council, Paula Vehituai, said the Maui double-hull ferry was initially due in Tonga during last month's Royal Agriculture show, but there were technical holdups.
Radio Tonga reported the Maui cost about $US750,000 and had been jointly funded by the people of 'Eua and through a loan from the Tonga Development Bank.
