The Cook Islands has welcomed New Zealand's promise to provide more free TV content to Pacific Island countries.
New Zealand's Prime Minister, John Key, this week announced the initiative that provides Pacific countries with up to eight hours a day of free New Zealand content, including key sports events.
The Cook Islands Prime Minister, Henry Puna, was enthusiastic about the announcement, saying the assistance would be a big boost for sports fans in the community.
The Cook Islands News reports the chief executives of both Cook Islands Television and Vaka TV welcoming the announcement, saying it would be a big boost for local viewers.
