The US Department of Labor has found minimum wage and overtime violations involving three-jointly owned businesses in American Samoa.
The Labor Department says the employers paid drivers and cashiers less than the should have; paid garment makers on a commission basis that did not always meet the minimum wage of US$4.18 per hour and rounded down the hours worked by some employees.
The employers have also delayed the payment of some overtime earned, "banking" it for a future date.
The employers have agreed to pay nearly US$70,000 dollars in arrears to the workers.
