Two former top officials of Fiji's renamed Native Land Trust Board have been given jail sentences for abuse of office.

The NLTB is now the i-Taukei Land Trust Board.

FBC News reports that the High Court sentenced the former general manager, Kalivati Bakani, to four years imprisonment and the former NLTB chairman, Keni Dakuidreketi, to six years in jail.

Dakuidreketi was convicted of five counts of abuse of office for the purpose of gain.

He had used government grants to finance an IT company, called Pacific Connex.

Bakani pleaded guilty in June and was convicted of five counts of abuse of office.
