The head of Fiji's Meteorological Service says the country has been spared further threatening weather as category three Cyclone Lusi turns south away from Fiji.
Alipate Waqaicelua says the cyclone is now 500 kilometres to the southwest of Nadi and moving south southeast at 28 kilometres per hour.
He says estimated winds at Cyclone Lusi's centre are estimated at 150 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 215 kilometres per hour.
He says the former Tropical Cyclone Hadi off the coast of Queensland has helped to turn Lusi away from Fiji.
"All the activities associated with this cyclone have gone with the cyclone. We're very fortunate that it has made an early turn towards the south, sparing Fiji from what could have been a much worse situation."
Alipate Waqaicelua says there is no flood alert for Fiji and heavy swell warnings will be lifted later today.
