The Solomon Islands meterological service is warning of gale force winds within the next 12 to 24 hours as a tropical disturbance watch is in place for all provinces and islands.
At 5am Solomon Islands time, the tropical depression was located about 138 kilometres northwest of Rennel island and was moving west south west at about 4 kilometres and hour.
It warns to expect gale force winds of close to 90 kilometres an hour over Rennell and Bellona, Makira and Southern Guadalcanal islands within the next 12 to 24 hours.
The remaining islands can expext winds of over 45 kilometres an hour.
It's warning of rough swells, heavy rain, squally thunderstorms and is asking people to take precautionary measures as the bad weather can pose threats to lives and property.
