Samoa's head weightlifting coach says the country's lifters are tracking well for next year's Commonwealth Games but need to improve on their finishing.
Samoa had seven representatives at last month's Commonwealth Championships in Malaysia, with Mary Opeloge winning gold, Nevo Ioane Vaipava and Vanessa Lui claiming silver medals and Tovia Opeloge earning a bronze.
Jerry Wallwork says overall the results were very encouraging but with a bit more work they could be even better.
"In case of standards we are up there, our Oceania lifters are right up the top. Now what we need to do is get those important lifts, those last attempts: that is the attempt that will win you the gold medal or the silver medal and we're missing those last attempts. That's what we've got to focus on now - polishing up - so by next year we're able to finish off."
Jerry Wallwork says he will only take lifters to the Glasgow Games who are ranked in the top five in the Commonwealth, with next year's Oceania Champs in Apia their last chance to impress.
