Guam has been placed in a state of mourning after two local members of the US Army National Guard were killed in Afghanistan.

The Marianas Variety reports that sergeant Eugene Aguon and specialist Dwayne Flores were killed in Kabul on Thursday when their convoy was struck by a car bomb.

In a statement the governor, Eddie Calvo, said the National Guard has committed all resources necessary to take care of the families.

About 600 members of the National Guard serving in Afghanistan are from Guam.
