The Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo, says it is pivotal for the government to bridge the gap between employers and employees on the issue of employability.
Mr Lilo was speaking at the opening of the country's first ever job fair.
He commended the organisers of the fair for seeing the need to educate the Solomons job seeking population.
He says the fair offers an important opportunity for the private sector to reaffirm the level of skills demanded in the market, and what job seekers need to match with their acquired qualifications.
"And in the same way, it is also critical for us to focus on creating ethical and employable category of young graduates and potential job seekers or the potential employing labour force in the country."
