The national carrier of Samoa, Samoa Air says it is optimistic about starting an inter Samoa service in addition to providing daily flights between Upolu and Savaii islands.

Samoa Air's Chief Executive, Chris Langton, says the company is pleased with its progress.

Mr Langton says the airline's application to begin flights from Savaii to Pago Pago has been filed with the federal Aviation Administration.

"We're expecting within three weeks we should have those clearances and the first flight would be Tuesdays and Saturdays Maota to Pago Pago and back. And we do that just over two days of the week for a start and see how it develops from there."
