A new resort will soon be opened in Isabel province in the Solomon Islands with plans to promote tourism.

The Kolosori Resort which is owned by five tribal groups and financially supported by the nickel mining company Axiom KB, will open in two months.

According to the Solomon Star newspaper, the resort will provide traditional fishing shows, surfing and bush tracks.

The Axiom KB Executive Director Ryan Mount says the most important thing is to promote tourism.

He says the company has taken the initiative to help the landowners benefit from their resources as they prepare for prospecting in the area.
