1:30 pm on 6 March 2012

Tonga's Prime Minister has met senior US and British commanders as well as Tongan troops in Afghanistan.

The Tonga Defence Services have served as part of the International Security Assistance Force since November 2010.

The 55 personnel serve alongside members of the RAF Police and RAF Regiment to provide security for Camp Bastion's main entry points, perimeter, and airfield.

Taimi media reports Lord Tu'ivakano as saying it was a unique experience to see his troops in Afghanistan.

He says he looks forward to returning to Tonga to inform the King, Parliament and the Tongan people of his experience.
