The Samoa government is to lease out Medcen Hospital once it takes over the facility.

An invitation to health care providers to submit expressions of interest in the hospital has been issued through the Ministry of Health.

Medcen, the first hospital set up by the private sector in Samoa struck financial difficulties last year.

Our correspondent reports that the government sees the hospital as valuable to the country's health services and is in the process of acquiring it.

A group of private sector doctors has already expressed an interest in running the hospital.
