Fiji's regime leader, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has taken over the responsibility for talks and negotiations related to the Namosi Joint Venture mining project in the Waisoi area.

Concerns over the proposed project last week reportedly saw Namosi and Naitasiri villagers signing a petition to be sent to the Government.

Fiji Live reports that Commodore Bainimarama as saying he wants to personally ensure all relevant parties voices continue to be heard and in particular those of the landowners.

Commodore Bainimarama said his government is committed to maintaining a pristine environment in Namosi and throughout Fiji.

An Environment Impact Assessment is still being conducted in the Naitasiri area.
