7:58 pm on 26 July 2011

The American Samoa Rugby Union meeting to discuss the incident in which a referee was beaten on Saturday, has been delayed for two days.

A member of the executive says they're occupied with caring for the victim who remains hospitalised.

An official says they also want to hear about progress on the police investigation into the assault.

The referee, 29 year-old Ponifasio Vasa, had his nose broken and had to undergo surgery.

He is in the surgical ward and has been complaining of head aches.

As of Monday afternoon local time no arrests had been made in connection with the assault.
