5:29 pm on 10 February 2011

The president of the autonomous Papua New Guinea province of Bougainville, John Momis, says his government is still trying to get hold of a 5 point 7 million US dollar restoration development grant from the PNG national government.

New Dawn reports that Mr Momis has just returned to Bougainville from Port Moresby where he led a delegation from the ABG..

Mr Momis says they held talks with prime minister Sir Michael Somare and other national ministers over issues such as the outstanding grant but that there is still no sign a cheque is forthcoming.

The president says he will make every effort to ensure the National Government pays up the K15 million kina grant to the ABG as guaranteed under the Bougainville Peace Agreement.
