Some 40 people appeared in court in Pago Pago yesterday, after the Christmas break.

Of the cases in court, 10 of them were in court for driving while under the influence, which police says is a major decrease compared to past years.

Assistant Attorney General Nicholas Deganhart says that among those taken into custody by police are under age drinkers, and some were involved in incidents that may result in the government filing additional charges once police investigation is completed.

Some of the defendants were taken into custody Thursday night spending Christmas behind bars.
