An American Samoa Department of Education official, Paul Solofa, has been arraigned at a federal court in Washington D.C. where he entered a not guilty plea.
Mr Solofa is charged with witness tampering and obstruction of justice, after he allegedly conspired with a vendor to receive kickbacks and discounts in the school bus spare parts scheme.
A status hearing is to be held at the end of January next year.
Mr Solofa, who is on bail of 25,000 US dollars, had made an initial court appearance in September in Honolulu after he was arrested in Pago Pago.
He's to surrender his passport to the FBI when he returns to Pago Pago and is prohibited from contacting any witnesses in the case.
