Papua New Guinea's High Commissioner in Solomon Islands has spoken of the importance of continued expansion of trade between the Melanesian Spearhead Group countries.
Aiwa Olmi has told the Solomon Star newspaper that expanding PNG's chancery in the Solomons will help address the need for more manpower to deal with various issues of common interest to the two nations.
Mr Olmi, who took up his post late last year, says there is a need to keep removing any hindrance to the free flow of goods and services between MSG countries.
He says that is why he has extended the amount of time on working permits issued for Solomon Islands football players to stay in PNG.
The High Commissioner says his predecessors normally gave such players permits of up to three months but that he is issuing them 12-month permits, and up to three-year entry visas for students.
