Fiji's interim government will today begin to appoint country's new judges.
Members of the former judiciary were sacked by the President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, on April the tenth, following the abrogation of the Constitution.
A new Decree issued last week paved the way for the appointment of new judges.
But there are fears the new judiciary won't be as independent as the old one.
The new Decree has allowed the President of the Law Society to be dropped from the body that makes judicial appointments.
Dorsami Naidu, who heads the Law Society, says this will enable Commodore Frank Bainimarama's interim government to appoint only judges who back him.
