World Vision says the appointment of former prime minister Helen Clark to a top United Nations post will draw attention to the plight of the poor in the Pacific.
Miss Clark has been officially nominated to become the head of the United Nation's Development Programme.
The Development Programme focuses on poverty elimination, good governance, health and conflict resolution and has an annual budget of about 9-billion dollars.
The chief executive of World Vision New Zealand, Lisa Cescon says she believes Miss Clark will be absolutely stupendous at the role.
