The Cook Islands Democratic Party says there is no rift that would make it vulnerable to a motion of no-confidence.
Norman George has given notice of a motion, which is likely to happen when the House resumes in April, and says he is doing it because ministers are more concerned about job security than running the country.
The Democratic Party's acting leader, Makirere Poila, says the party isn't concerned about the motion.
He says Mr George is playing politics.
"It's a game, and maybe they are boring the opposition have nothing else to do, it's a way of entertaining their parliament. Because as far as I know, there's nothing going to happen."
Makirere Poila says the caucus has met since the notice, and no one is going to support it.
