Thirty-six Cook Islands students have graduated with a business certificate from a New Zealand Polytechnic.

The ceremony has been held in Rarotonga where the students took the Whitireia Polytechnic course.

The Cook Island Prime Minister Jim Marurai awarded students at the ceremony with their level two national New Zealand business and computing certificate.

The Polytechnic's CEO, Don Campbell, says he had talks about more courses.

"I also met with a number of key people in the community; business people, people from the health authorities, people from the human resources department and had some discussions about what some of their needs might be. It's far too early to say that there are immediate developments going to be flowing out of that."
