Meetings between Electoral Reform Committee and NZ Tongan communities

8:39 am on 19 June 2006

A series of meetings are being held between New Zealand's Tongan communities and the Committee for Electoral Reform led by Prince Tu'ipelehake.

The meeting is part of a worldwide campaign by Tonga's Parliamentary Committee for Political Reform.

Tonight's Wellington meeting follows the four held in Auckland last week which gives Tongans living in New Zealand an opportunity to have their say on the Kingdom's electoral system.

Organiser, Maaka Pailate, says tonight's meeting is about information gathering and not a debate.

The delegation will meet New Zealand's Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, this afternoon.
