Communications Fiji Limited, the operator of commercial radio stations in Fiji and Papua New Guinea, has announced a record 600,000 US dollars in profits for the 2005 financial year.

Company chairman Hari Punja says the results in Fiji were excellent as Communications Fiji delivered impressive growth across radio and related profit centres.

The Fiji Times quotes Mr Punja as saying their result in PNG also showed the benefit of a long period of stable governance and the company is now back in profit there.

Last year the company also invested in Unwired Fiji which introduced wireless broadband internet services in Fiji for the first time.

Mr Punja says he expects company profits to improve further this year.
