Canadian company seeks oil in Papua New Guinea

A Canadian oil company has begun drilling the first of eight planned exploration wells in the Black Bass Prospect in Papua New Guinea.

Interoil says heavy rains had delayed the start of drilling by a month.

The Black Bass Prospect is about 1-hundred and 60 kilometres northwest of Interoil's refinery near the capital, Port Moresby.

Interoil is looking for petroleum deposits within its 8-million acre licence area in PNG.
