Samoa Broadcasting Corporation lifts ban on opposition media conferences

3:47 pm on 8 September 2004

The Samoa Broadcasting Corporation has lifted its ban on the Opposition's weekly media conferences.

The corporation's CEO, Faiesea Lei Sam-Matafeo, says they have forgiven the MP who allegedly directed vulgar language at them.

She sent a letter to the leader of Samoa Democratic United Party, Le Mamea Ropati, informing him of the end of the ban this morning.

Le Mamea says the row with SBC, which started last month when MP Valasi Togamaga Tafito accused public servants of sucking up to government, was about a difference of views and interpretation of words

Le Mamea says the opposition is happy about the change of heart by the corporation.
